It’s time for a Christmas truce followed by negotiation
Three articles related to the Russia-Ukraine War caught my attention today.
The first, at NBC News, argues that Patriot missile batteries are not enough to defend Ukraine. The article urges the U.S. to provide Gray Eagle drones to Ukraine to enable attacks deep into the interior of Russia, including most especially bases where strategic bombers are located. The subtitle to this article is especially provocative: “Western limitations on providing Kyiv with long-distance offensive capabilities are becoming nonsensical.”
Did you get that? It’s “nonsensical” to be concerned about providing offensive weaponry that would exert more escalatory pressure on this war.
The second article, also at NBC News, suggests that Ukraine in the near future may possess the military wherewithal to take Crimea from Russia. Some concern was expressed that Putin could respond with nuclear weapons if Russia’s hold on Crimea was threatened.
The third article from the British Guardian addresses recent Russian attacks on Kharkiv, as follows: “Kharkiv left without power, heating and water as Russian attack causes ‘colossal’ damage, says mayor. Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, is without power, heating and water after Russian missile strikes on Friday morning caused ‘colossal’ damage to infrastructure, its mayor Ihor Terekhov said.”
What this all adds up to is a war that is growing increasingly dangerous and destructive not just for Ukraine and Russia but possibly for Europe and indeed the world.
Meanwhile, a friend sent me this article from Vox about a recent party in Washington D.C. focused on Ukraine and the war. The party’s invitations were sponsored by major U.S. weapons contractors, in this case Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin.
Strangely, I heartily approve of this invitation because the sponsors are, for once, obvious. Can’t say that I blame the corporations: they know a great opportunity when they see it.
What Russia and Ukraine need are not more pressures to escalate but more reasons to talk, to negotiate, to put an end to this war before it truly runs out of control.
Unfortunately, many people in the U.S. see more weaponry as the answer. One thing is certain: you won’t get an argument on that from those “supporters” listed on the invitation above.
Can we not, as Vera Brittain argued, find the courage to end these cycles of vengeance and violence? We must learn to say “no” to killing. “No” to war. In that spirit, I signed a declaration calling for a Christmas truce in Ukraine. Here’s an article from Codepink on the effort.

Bracing Views 
Bill et al, every sane, rational person reading or watching the the News, can understand what President Kennedy came to understand, after the trial and close call of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
It was the 1st Time since WWII when Americans introduced Nukes into this World, and the Soviets had as many as the Americans 17 years later, threatened Armageddon/WWIII because of Pride and Power.
Pride indeed does come before the fall.
Kennedy uttered the essential truth in 1963 that can keep us alive today: “Above all, while defending our own vital interests, nuclear powers must avert those confrontations which bring an adversary to a choice of either a humiliating retreat or a nuclear war. To adopt that kind of course in the nuclear age would be evidence only of the bankruptcy of our policy–or of a collective death-wish for the world.”
With escalation being the only leading indicator, with the US thinking it’s 100% GOOD and Russia is 100% EVIL, we will see THE END in OUR Generations if we Consent to it by Silence.
I can’t remember which article I said it in this site, but I pointed out the US is the BIGGEST Arms Merchant in the History of Nations and Americans mirror that LOVE OF WEAPONS, having more of them in private hands than for any other Society on Earth and as the Economic Straitjacket tightens, Americans will turn those weapons on Americans.
Here is another LEADING INDICATOR that Time may be sooner than later.

Have you noticed that a lot of big companies have been conducting mass layoffs recently? At this point, it has become exceedingly clear that a major economic slowdown has begun, and payrolls are being feverishly slashed at a rate that we haven’t seen in a long time. In fact, the number of job cuts in November 2022 was 417 percent higher than it was in November 2021. Unfortunately, what we have witnessed so far is just the beginning. We are being warned that a couple million more Americans could lose their jobs in 2023, and the vast majority of the population is simply not prepared for such a scenario. In fact, a new survey that was just released found that 63 percent of all Americans are currently living paycheck to paycheck…
As of November, 63% of Americans were living paycheck to paycheck, according to a monthly LendingClub report — up from 60% the previous month and near the 64% historic high hit in March.
Even high-income earners are under pressure, Lending Club found. Of those earning more than six figures, 47% reported living paycheck to paycheck, a jump from the previous month’s 43%.
When you are just barely scraping by from month to month, a job loss can be absolutely debilitating.
Sadly, this year many large corporations aren’t even waiting until after the holidays to give the axe to thousands of highly dedicated employees…………….

How do you think Americans will behave with that tightening Economic straitjacket with so much hatred and division already, and lots and lots of guns?

may i be propined the latitude to say “good riddance!” ray? we are long overdue for our species-depletion dynamics: belt-tightening, w/ brakes applied to our resource exploitation and egregious mall-rat accumulations. our beleaguered planet has had enough of our egregiously deleterious regnancy. she is fighting back. the uber-capitalized job-market be damned.

Jeanie, in the Days of my Youth in the 60s, the Future look bright and promising. It doesn’t look so bright and promising for all Generations in these Times.
It not a just a matter that I’m 78 now and the Days are getting shorter. I’m still healthy and doing well within my means, and don’t fear the scenarios outlined in my comment. It’s just that it’s so unnecessary because of the pursuit of money and power by the Elites.
It’s a pleasure for me to see the Day Care workers leading several groups of 8-10 preschool children, all tied together, to the park and playground at the bottom of my street.
It looks so cute, but at the same time I think it’s preparing them for the chains of captivity many will find themselves in as they get older.
I feel sad for them, having no clue of the dangerous state the World is in, knowing their young lives could be cut short like the innocents of Sandy Hook any time, just for the sake of Pride, Power & Money.

Unfortunately Zelensky, in his skewered thinking, does not want a Ceasefire because he says Russia would only use it to build up Russian Forces and material, as if Ukraine wouldn’t after the confession of Germany’s Merkel.
That’s faulty thinking because without a Ceasefire, Russia will be doing that anyway, and NATO isn’t slowing down supplying Ukraine military the guidance in waging the WAR, Intelligence and WAR material.

You don’t live in a free country. And no, it’s not because they make you pay taxes or that time they made you wear a mask or whatever. The real reason you don’t live in a free country is much, much bigger than that: you don’t live in a free country because the minds of your countrymen are imprisoned.
Westerners think they’re free because they can say whatever they want and vote however they want, but what they want is controlled by mass-scale psychological manipulation. Being able to speak and vote as you wish is meaningless if the powerful control what it is that you wish.
Westerners think they’re free because they can speak their minds, and sure, it’s pleasant to be able to do that. It would be pleasant to have your body trapped in a vat with your brain plugged into a blissful virtual reality world, too — but it wouldn’t be freedom. It would be prison disguised as freedom. And that’s what we have here: prison disguised as freedom. The science of modern propaganda has been developing alongside all the other sciences for over a century, and it has advanced just as much as the others have. And now it’s at a point where it can control our very desires.
It’s generally harder to recognize psychologically abusive relationships than physically abusive ones, because the abuse isn’t as overt, and because the psychological faculties you would normally use to assess situations have been twisted and warped. That’s what’s happening here: people are being psychologically manipulated at mass scale into thinking, speaking and acting in a way that serves the powerful, and their minds have become too propaganda-addled to recognize that this is happening. We’re not free, and most can’t even recognize how unfree we are.
And that’s our real problem: very few of us understand how profoundly unfree we are. Just how much our minds are being squished down into these teeny tiny boxes to prevent us from expanding and realizing our true power and our true potential, and the kind of world we could have. Our slavery is so pervasive that few can even see the full extent of it. Many will say they don’t feel they live in a
free country, but if you ask them to explain why, they might say something about drug laws or government regulations on their business or whatever. The abuse is too big for them to truly perceive how bad the whole thing is.
So we march along to the drumbeat of our rulers, thinking, speaking, shopping, spending, consuming, scrolling, viewing, listening, voting and behaving exactly how they want us to, and mistaking all this for freedom, because we’ve been manipulated into wanting to do those things.
We won’t ever know true freedom until we find a way to end this. To un-jack our minds from the propaganda matrix they have built for us and begin perceiving reality clearly. Our world. Our country. Our society. Our own minds. Our own authentic desires, free from manipulation.
Our task, then, is to help awaken as many people as we can to the reality of how unfree we truly are. To be voices whispering in the matrix, beckoning the dreamers toward the real world in as many varied and creative ways ways as we can come up with. To coax those eyes open.
If we can get a critical mass of people waking up from their propaganda-induced comas, the primary control mechanism holding our enslavement in place will have been shattered. The primary obstacle to a healthy world will be removed.
An entire empire has been built upon our closed eyelids. When we finally snap them open, it will have to fall.

‘Military Spending Surges, Creating New Boom for Arms Makers’
The combination of the war in Ukraine and concern about longer-term threats from Russia and China is driving a bipartisan push to increase U.S. capacity to produce weapons.
WASHINGTON — The prospect of growing military threats from both China and Russia is driving bipartisan support for a surge in Pentagon spending, setting up another potential boom for weapons makers that is likely to extend beyond the war in Ukraine.
Congress is on track in the coming week to give final approval to a national military budget for the current fiscal year that is expected to reach approximately $858 billion — or $45 billion above what President Biden had requested.
If approved at this level, the Pentagon budget will have grown at 4.3 percent per year over the last two years — even after inflation

“We went through six years of Stingers in 10 months,” Gregory J. US VETERANS CALL FOR HOLIDAY TRUCE, CEASEFIRE, AND NEGOTIATIONS TO END WAR IN UKRAINE:

Winter’s arrival in the northern hemisphere brings increased concern about the war in Ukraine—now in its tenth month. Concern about the suffering of civilians under siege, and the fate of millions of refugees. Concern about the energy crisis and militarization in Europe. Concern about war-related food shortages in Africa. And concern about the possibility of a civilization-ending nuclear war.
In the face of these compounding disasters, the world’s people are confronted by the apparent readiness of Russia, Ukraine, the U.S., and NATO to dig in for a long war in which there will be no winners.
VETERANS FOR PEACE (VFP) shares all of these concerns. As far back as 2015, we called for the withdrawal of all NATO forces from Ukraine’s borders with Russia. Like many observers, we saw this unnecessary and totally avoidable war coming. On February 24, 2022, the day that Russia invaded Ukraine, we issued an urgent call for Diplomacy Not War. VETERANS FOR PEACE is part of the Peace In Ukraine Coalition, which is calling for a ceasefire and diplomacy to end the war before it is too late.
Now, with the holiday season almost upon us, we join in the calls by religious leaders and others for a temporary truce in Ukraine, harkening back to the storied “Christmas Truce” in 1914 during World War I, when German and British soldiers came out of their trenches to celebrate together.
As veterans who have experienced the carnage of war, we feel great empathy for the young soldiers on both sides of this bloody war who are being killed and injured in the tens of thousands. We know all too well that the survivors will be traumatized and scarred for life. We say Enough is Enough—War is Not the Answer.
We want urgent, good-faith diplomacy to end the war in Ukraine, not more U.S. weapons, advisors, and endless war. And certainly not a nuclear war. We want to see those billions of dollars going for climate, jobs, healthcare, and housing, not for weapons manufacturers and war profiteers.
As soldiers who have resisted wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq, we support war resisters on all sides, including Conscientious Objectors, draft resisters, deserters, and all who refuse to participate in killing. We especially encourage U.S. military personnel to refuse to participate in training, arming, advising, or otherwise engaging in this and other wars of empire. We furthermore call on the U.S. government to end all its wars and withdraw our troops from multiple countries around the world.
It is time to reverse course now. Drop the weapons. Embrace diplomacy and peace. For the sake of Ukraine. For the sake of Russia, Europe, and the United States. For the sake of all the peoples of the world. A holiday truce could be the first step toward peace.

All of us here know the POWERS that BE are pushing it to that possibility with no Diplomacy to

I was surprised to get your generic PR newsletter Friday. In the 1st MESSAGE I sent all 100 Senators in November last year, with the Subject SIGNS OF THE TIMES, and in the 2nd MESSAGE sent all 100 Senators in the 1st week of February this year, with the Subject ARMAGEDDON/WWIII, I made it clear I’m Canadian, not a Constituent.
Both Presidents Biden and Putin have said since then, this Material World is closer to ARMAGEDDON than ever before. Even the Pope says this World is already in WWIII, urging everyone “not to get accustomed” to this piecemeal third world war, which, he says “is becoming a full-fledged third world war under our eyes”.
More than half the Senators replied to the 1st MESSAGE with computer generated acknowledgements as if I were a Constituent. The 2nd MESSAGE was concerned with the upcoming US WAR with Russia, and like your reply 6 months later, all the Senators who replied, replied using the same anti-Russia/Putin talking points you did, the MESSAGE falling on Deaf ears.
On November 8 I forward the email I sent Pope Francis on ALL SOULS DAY, November 2, to the many Senators who replied to my earlier MESSAGES using a normal email address as you did. Not one Senator acknowledged receipt of that MESSAGE. I understand why, since I offered proof that unlike the Senators, the Pope took my MESSAGE to heart, using exact words and visions taken from my Email, speaking Publicly in Bahrain on November 4 & 5.

How many Bodies and SOULS have been killed in all the Wars in Human History since the Tower of Babel and the Beginning of Nations?
Seeing it as it is Today, ALL NATIONS have their own version of that Tower that preceded the arrival of Babylon/Iraq.

I just got this response from the Senator’s Office Re: US WAR WITH RUSSIA OVER UKRAINE IN NATO to the email I sent Yesterday.

The Senator copped out. I received email like that from other Senators but they were computer generated arriving within minutes of sending my email.
This one is manually generated just arriving now. I know it’s not even True.
The Stats of WordPress tell me how many visitors from which Countries read which of the 102 articles I’ve posted since 2013.
Up until sending the email to the Senator Yesterday there was only 1 visitor from China. Strangely enough, People from China are 2nd only to the US coming to my blog due to this Chinese Search Engine,

the 2nd was ARMAGEDDON/WWIII linked to ‘US POLITICIANS ARE SLEEPWALKING TOWARD THE NUCLEAR ABYSS’
the 3rd was linked to my latest Blog article ‘ALL SOULS DAY TO REMEMBRANCE DAY’
the last live link was to ‘THE TOWER OF BABEL & THE BEGINNING OF NATIONS.’
There were many other live links in the MESSAGE to the Senator linked to Vatican News articles establishing the claims I made about the Pope acting on the 2 emails I sent him are True.
